Case Study

When the coronavirus took an even tighter stranglehold on the world in the autumn of 2020, and healthcare testing resources could not meet the need efficiently enough, 9Lives decided to seize the opportunity and to help the Finns get tested faster.

9Lives is a private social- and healthcare company specializing in mobile health services. Their goal is to develop into a leading player in northern Europe within their industry.

“Healthcare resources were strained to the limit, and since we had expertise in mobile services and wanted to grow, this was a good opportunity to do our part in the fight against corona,” says Markus Ulfstedt, the main owner and CEO of 9Lives Group. “In cooperation with the medical districts, we opened ten testing stations over a three-month period.”

“Due to the uncertainty of our new business, we did not want to recruit for permanent positions”

“When pursuing growth, there are always uncertainties. The acute corona situation brought a completely new challenge to our operations and development plans. There were no processes for this new situation and no certainty about the future. The business was also new to us and there was no manual to check how things were to be handled or how the situation would develop.”

In changing market situations and project-related tasks, an experienced Interim Professional is often a good option for companies. Executive Interim Managers are experienced leaders who are used to taking responsibility for and driving projects quickly.

“In this situation, using an Interim Professional was a suitable solution for us in terms of flexibility. We ended up engaging two Interim Experts, one for sales and one for growing our operations. We have used this solution before to increase our own capabilities and competence with very good results.”

“Networks are an asset – also internationally”

Through Nordic Interim’s business in Denmark, Nexus Interim, 9Lives has also engaged an Interim Manager at their Danish office.

“Since Nordic Interim has an office in Denmark, it was easy to find a suitable interim in that market as well. When you have to do things quickly and without delay, where slowness can be an issue, an Interim Manager is a flexible way to move things forward. Nordic Interim’s superiority lies in the existing network of interim managers. Thanks to them we were able to find a suitable expert without spending time searching. The Russian writer Ivan Turgenev (1818-1883) wisely said: “The word ‘tomorrow’ was coined for indecisive people and children”, Markus Ulfstedt concludes.
