Background:

The client is a major Danish manufacturing company with worldwide operations, including sales and production in China.

Challenge:

The company had recently been undergoing a major change in its global operations, going from a sector organization to a regional/geographically based organization. In conjunction with this, the management recognized that there were issues with the HR function in China, which was not meeting their standards or compliance, either internally or externally. As a result of this, the HR Manager left the company. The Chinese organization is large with production as well as sales units with about 1 500 employees, and a well-functioning HR function is of utmost importance. There was an urgent need to find an experienced HR Manager who could put things back to order, set structures and processes, and secure a compliant HR function.

Due to Covid-19, the company could not send someone from within the global organization to China and had to look locally for a person with the right qualifications and who was available immediately.

Solution:

The company contacted Nexus Interim who immediately contacted X-PM, an Interim Management service provider in China. Two days later they had identified three potential Chinese candidates with strong experience in international HR management, HR systems, and the ability to review and establish structures, systems, and processes. After another two days of dialogue about the candidates, the client interviewed the selected candidate. Based on this, the Interim HR Manager was engaged. An agreement was signed one week after the first contact with Nexus Interim. The interim HR-Manager started the assignment soon after.

The assignment is initially for a period of four months, with a likely extension.
